Real Smoked Flavor

Real Smoked Flavor

We do real slow-smoked BBQ. I don’t know if people realize that the flavor comes from the wood and the smoke – not always the sauce.

Sauce should be a complement and a counterpoint to BBQ, not thought of as the main source of flavor.

We try to make the sauces complement the meat not smother it.

Darlene and I feel compelled to write something about the most amazing food prepared by Ron and Debbie Foster.

Our Daughter was married last on August 25, 2012 at our home in Santa Rosa. We had 182 guests on the invitation list. Needless to say the created some worries for us in the food category. One of Darlene’s top priorities was enough good food for everyone.

My Daughters fiancé Brian works with Ron at Ground Water in Healdsburg. Ron had agreed to do the BBQ for Brian and Morgan but this only entailed a whole pig. We were having trouble finding a caterer for the wedding so we approached Ron and Debbie to see if they would be interested. After going over our plans for the menu Ron suggested using pork butt for the main meat with a small pig on the side. Morgan also wanted chicken. And Darlene wanted a particular coleslaw recipe and potato salad.

Well, Ron and Debbie agreed and we are so glad they did. Ron delivered his BBQ, an amazing piece of equipment the week before the wedding. The night before the wedding Ron arrived at our house to start smoking the pork butt at 2:30A.M. yes, A.M. He tended the meat every hour all night to make sure it was cooked to perfection. Debbie arrived on wedding day with salads they had prepared the salads just as we wanted. Ron purchased a China Box he planned on using to cook the whole pig. Around 11:00 A.M. on wedding day he started cooking the pig. With the help of a couple of servers Ron and Debbie had all the food layed out at the precise time the buffet dinner was to begin.

We had so many people tell us how much they enjoyed the meal. Ron used his own BBQ sauce recipe which went extremely well with the pork butt, chicken and pieces of pork carved from the whole pig. The potato salad and cole slaw prepared to perfection were commented on as well. No one left the reception without having all the great food they desired.

We would highly recommend Ron and Debbie of Sonoma County BBQ for any event where excellent BBQ and service are required. Thank you so much Ron and Debbie for helping to make our Daughters wedding a memorable one in the food department.
